Special Summer Soccer Program
Dear Malden Soccer Families,
If your kids are like ours, Malden Youth Soccer would like to offer an outlet for that energy -- a special Summer Soccer program, July 6-August 14. We have been carefully watching the Governor's re-opening plans and have designed a program that will adhere to all of the current recommended precautions.
Registration is now OPEN. Space will be limited based on the number of coaches who volunteer.
The summer program will initially be offered to travel-aged players between grades 3 and 12. We are considering a program for younger players in the weeks following the travel aged players. If you are interested in this, please let us know.
Activities will be limited to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19. We will strictly adhere to guidelines laid out by Mass Youth Soccer and Malden's Parks department. At first, activities will require everyone (players, coaches, spectators) to maintain 6ft distance (no scrimmages), and not share equipment. If these guidelines are expanded, as expected, over the summer as the state moves through its phases, hopefully we will be adding scrimmages and games.
Members who register will be placed on a team of no more than 12 members, including coaches. The practice schedule will be determined by the coach. Expect 2 evening practices per week. If you have special scheduling needs, please specify them when you sign up.
The cost for the 6 week summer session will be $25, but please do not let the price stop you from signing up. We will waive the fee if there is any need.
For a full list of COVID restrictions in place, please visit the MA Youth Soccer Return to Soccer page. All players will be required to comply. Keep in mind that we are currently in Phase 2, but expect to move to Phase 3 by July 6.
Phase 2 protections include the following.
- Players must not attend if they show any symptoms of COVID-19
- Team size is limited to 12 people, including coaches
- Players must maintain 6 ft of social distance
- Players must have their temperature taken at home before coming to the field
- Everyone must wear a mask to and from practice. A mask is not required during practice. Coaches are strongly encouraged to wear a mask for the duration of the practice.
- Players MUST have their own hand sanitizer and their own water bottle
Once the state announces Phase 3 restrictions, we will share those.
All players and their parents will need to read, understand, and follow the terms presented in the waiver you agree to as part of registration.
We will host a mandatory ZOOM meeting for all coaches and team parents on Wednesday, July 1. We will host a mandatory ZOOM meeting for all players and parents on Sunday, July 5.
